Day-1. DEPARTURE CITY-BELIZE CITY: Flight to Belize City. Upon arrival (approx. 3,45 pm) board the Motor coach for a short ride to Belize ZOO. Visit this interesting ZOO and then continue with ride through Belizean countryside toward the town of San Ignacio in Cayo district. Cayo offers visitors the unique opportunity to encounter its physically diverse flora and fauna. With such natural wonders as cascading waterfalls and limestone caves, an intact and relatively undisturbed environment Cayo offers something for everyone. In fact over 60% of Cayo District has been set aside as either a Wildlife Sanctuary, National Park, or Forest Reserve. During your stay you will also visit one of the great Maya pyramids like Caracol, Xunantunich or Cahal Pech. Arrival at you Coton Tree Lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day-2. CAYO DISTRICT:Introduction to Cayo District and the area led by local guide. After the breakfast guided tour to Botanical garden to view some of the plants and to learn about the native medical plants. You will visit the native orchard house, following the rain forest trail using the look out tower. Try your hand at helping to prepare a local food item such as tamales, recado, cohune oil, or coffee. Learn a traditional craft such as roof thatching, broom making, or basket weaving. Learn the importance of sustainable harvest of useful and medicinal plants. During your walk you will also see many species of bird and learn about different Belizean cultures at BBG's Visitor Centre. BBG is located adjacent to duPlooy's. You will be served a traditional Maya-style lunch at the Botanic Garden or at duPlooy's,
Day-3. BIRD TRAIL:An early wake up and join duPlooy's bird guide on the deck as you can see many exotic species while drinking your morning coffee or tea. If you want to sleep a little longer, be at the dining room by 7:30 for breakfast, all ready to spend the days exploring Barton Creek Cave where you will canoe through stalactites and stalagmites seen only by flashlight while your guide imparts tales of ancient Mayan History. After a picnic. lunch, visit the exceptional Green Hills Butterfly Ranch just up the road, followed by a cooling swim in the cascades of Big Rock Falls located in Belize's Mountain Pine Ridge.
Day-4. MAYA TRAIL:After breakfast follow your guide on canoe ride to San Ignacio. Visit the town and then continue toward Xunantunich to visit one of the most celebrated Maya sanctuaries in Central America. Admire the site built by Mayas between 300-900 AD and amazing El Castillo over 130 foot high pyramid. Late return.
Day-5. CAYO-SAN PEDRO:Board the Motor coach for return rode to Belize City and the pier. Then board the Water taxi for approx. two hours ride to Ambergris Caye and the town of San Pedro. Arrival Banana Beach your home stay for the next three days.
Day-6. AMBERGRIS CAYE:After the breakfast, join the local guide on excursion to Belize mainland to visit famous Altun Ha. Travel to Burrell Boom village by way of the scenic Olde Belize River. En route you may see iguanas, several varieties of birds, crocodiles and troops of Howler Monkeys. Explore Altun Ha (Maya for "Rock Stone Water"), where the famous Jade Head "Kinich Ahau" was uncovered by Dr. David Pendergast of the Royal Ontario Museum. Late return to Ambergris Caye.
