Follow the path of Roman Emperors, Caesar and Diokletian. Explore the main sites of Ancient Rome and the State of Vatican. Walk on hilly Assisi to visit the site where St. Francis spend most of his life. Cross the Adriatic Sea to reach Croatia and explore ancient Spalato, where Emperor Diokletian built his massive fortress. Then along Adriatic coast to end the tour in Dubrovnik, the most beautiful coastal walled town in Europe. Ask for optional boat excursion to Ancient Greek colony of Cavtat.
Day-1. DEPARTURE CITY-ROME: Overnight flight to Rome.
Day-2. ROME: Arrive in Rome and transfer to your centrally located hotel next to Colosseum. After a short break join your Tour Director on a walking tour of the sites of Baroque Rome such as: Piazza Spagna, Piazza Navona, Pantheon and Pinzio Hill. Then visit Trevi Fountain, one of symbols of Rome and grate place to taste the best gelato in Italy.
Day 3. ROME-VATICAN: Travel by metro to Vatican. Then start with guided tour of Vatican Museum with; the Greek Cross Room, Candelabra Gallery, Maps Gallery, Rafael's Lodge, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica, the largest Catholic church in the world, with Michelangelo's masterpiece, La Pieta. In the afternoon visit the Ancient Rome and its main sites like: the Colosseum, Titus Arch, Constantine's Arch, Forum Romanum, Foro Traiano, Campidoglio, Victor Emanuel Monument and Pantheon. Rest of the day is free.
Day-4. ASISSI-NIGHT FERRY: Travel to Umbria and world's famous town of Assisi nestled high on the hill. Visit the town of St. Francis, and the main sites such as: Basilica St. Francis, Sacro Convento, Rocca Maggiori and Basilica of St. Claire Then to the port town of Ancona where you will board the overnight ferry for ride to Split.
Day-5. SPLIT: Arrival Split, known known as the birth place of Emperor Diokletian. Leave the luggage in your seaside four star hotel and then join your local guide on walking tour of this old Roman town named Spalato (the little palace),where Roman Emperor Diocletian built his Summer palace on the Bay of Asphalatos, which is today known as UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site. Explore the main sites like the Church of St. Trinity, Baptistry of St. John, Cathedral of St. Dominius and Mestrovic Art Gallery. Late afternoon travel along the Dalmatian Coast, cross the Bosnian border and arrive Medjugorje for overnight.
Day-7. MOSTAR-DUBROVNIK: Short ride to medieval town of Mostar establishe during thr reign of Ottoman Empire. Visit world's known bridge with unique shape, explore the Old Town, and small wooden stores (great place for hunt for souvenirs), and watch the local youngsters diving to Neretva River (over 20 m. height). Late afternoon travel along the Dalmatian Coast passing numerous islands on your way to Dubrovnik. Check in at your seaside hotel with swimming pool.
Day-8. DUBROVNIK: Join the local guide on walking tour of this amazing walled city named as UNECO Heritage city considered as the most beautiful walled town in Mediterranean Europe. Through the long history, Dubrovnik changed the hands of its many rulers from Byzantium and Venetian to Napoleon and Italians. Visit /see: The Museum of Dubrovnik, Stradun, Minceta Tower, the Old Port, Gruz Port, and Lovrijenac. In the afternoon, an optional walking tour along ramparts, walls and towers which surround this great city.
