Day-1. TRAVEL TO EUROPE:
Day-2. PARIS: Arrival Paris and board the Motor coach for ride to the city. Then start with Panoramic tour of the capital to see the main sites such as: Trocadero, Champ d’’ Mars, Opera, Place de la Concorde, Les Invalides, and Luxembourg Garden. Then to your hotel in l’Bastille. Evening walking tour along Seine to Place de Ville.
Day-3. PARIS: Walk to Les Hales to visit the oldest Parisian open air food market, and place where most of the Parisian chefs buy their daily products. Great place to sample the pastries and famous French cheese. Then cross the bridge and enter Île de la Cité, the cradle of Parisian history, and place where Roman Army built their first military camp after the “battle of Lutecia”. Visit Notre Dame, and then view Conciergerie Prison where Marie Antoinette spend her last days, before execution in Place de la Concorde. Late afternoon and evening tour of Louvre. End the day with Bateaux Mouches cruise on Seine.
Day-4. PARIS (NORMANDY EXCURSION): Full day excursion to Normandy. En route stop in Rouen the old Roman city mostly developed during the Middle Ages, town of William the Conqueror and place of trial and execution of Joan d’ Arc. Then to Courseulles-sur-Mer, for guided tor of Juno Beach Centre. After walking tour along the landing beaches, you will visit the Canadian Cemetery in Beny-sur-Mer, before late return to Paris.
Day-5. PARIS-ROME-NAPLES-POMPEII: Morning transfer to the airport for short flight to Rome. Then travel along Lazio Province to Monte Cassino to visit the battlefield of the Gustav Line, where over 55,000 Allied soldiers (4,000 Canadians) died. Visit Cassino War Memorial, and then to Naples, the capital of Italian South for walking tour of the main sites, before we end the day in Pompeii and your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day-6. POMPEII-ORTONA: Morning guided tour of the ruins of Ancient Pompeii. Great walking tour to see the remains of once the most prosperous town in Ancient Rome, mostly destroyed after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79. After almost 60 years of excavations, the city is again on display to the visitor. Then bus ride to the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius and steep walk to the mouth of the crater. In the afternoon ride across the Apennine Peninsula to reach Adriatic Coast and Ortona for overnight.
Day-7, ORTONA-LIRI VALLEY-ROME: Walking tour of Ortona, once the main launching point for the Battle of Diadem. See the area where the invasion started, and then to Liri Valley, site of one of the bloodiest battles during WW II in Southern Europe, which blocked the corridor to Rome. During April and May battles, 1st. Canadian Corps, joined the Fifth US Army, for the final battle at the German Line. Late afternoon continue to Rome. Arrival in the evening, panoramic tour, check in and overnight.
Day-8. ROME: Guided tour of tour of the main sites of Ancient Rome. See / visit: the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Capitoline Hill and Piazza Venezia. Later walking tour along Via Corso to Spanish Steps, the main meeting point for young travellers in Rome. Then to Trevi Fountain to taste the best gelato in Italy. End the day at Spanish Steps.
Day-9. ROME- VATICAN: Morning metro ride to visit the State of Vatican. First you will visit Vatican Museum, including Raphael Lodge, and the Sistine Chapel site of the Conclave for election of the new Pope, decorated with amazing ceilings painted by Michelangelo. Then visit St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest catholic church in the world, with massive altar and famous Michelangelo’s sculpture Pieta, After the tour, continue with walk to Castel San Angelo, created as burial tomb for Emperor Hadrian, Navona Square, Pantheon and Pincio Hill.
