Day-1. TRAVEL TO ROME.
Day-2. ROME: Arrive in Rome early afternoon and transfer to your centrally located hotel just 10 minutes walk from the Colosseum. After check in and refreshment break join your tour director on walking tour to Trevi Fountain, one of symbols of the city where you can taste the best gelato in Italy.
Day-3. ROME- VATICAN: Visit the State of Vatican including the guided tour of Vatican Museum, Raphael Lodge, the Sistine Chapel with ceilings painted by Michelangelo, and St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest Catholic church in the world. After lunch time in Vatican, join your tour director on walking tour to view the main sites of “Baroque Rome” such as: Castel San Angelo, (designed as Emperor Hadrian’s tomb), Navona Square, and Pantheon.
Day-4. ROME-POMPEII-NAPLES: Walking tour along the Avenue of Emperors to see the area where Ancient Rome was built between 5th BC and 3rd AD. See the Roman Forum, Capitoline Hill, Circus Maximus, Arch of Constantine, Colosseum, and Victor Emanuel Monument. Early afternoon bus ride along the Sunny Highway to Pompeii for guided tour of the city destroyed after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in AD. 79
Day-5. CAPRI ISLAND-NIGHT FERRY: Morning hydrofoil ride to Capri, the most famous Italian island-resort, where Roman Emperor Tiberius built Villa Jovis, and where Emperor Augustus built his first summer retreat which later became popular as a resort of the rich and famous. Walk to August Gardens, the Clock Tower, visit the perfume production outlet, and Marina Piccola before late return to Naples and board night ferry to Sicily.
Day-6. CATANIA-ETNA-SIRACUSE: Morning arrival Catania. and travel to Mt. Etna, the only one active volcano in Europe. Upon arrival lower station, take a walk through the black lava rouged terrain to the mouth of lower volcano for view to the crater. Later an optional cable car ride to sky-high 9,843 feet (3,000 m) to the mouth of upper volcano (depend on approval of the geo-office). Then travel to cliff town of Taormina, built in 392 BC. to visit the Greek Theatre and the Cathedral. End the day in Siracusa.
Day-7. SYRACUSE: Great day in this ancient city built by the Greeks in 7th BC, home town of Archimedes, and once the largest city in the world, and the capital of the Kingdom of Sicily. Guided tour of Ortigia, the island separated from the mainland, Syracuse Cathedral, and the theatre. Some free time in the afternoon for fun inside the pedestrian zone.
Day-8. SYRACUSE-MALTA: Ride to Pozallo and board speedy hydrofoil for ride to Malta. Arrival and transfer to area of Sliema with great view over La Valetta. After check in and refreshment, join your local guide on walking tour of the former stronghold of Crusaders of Order of St. John, and one of one of the greatest cities in the world which hosted Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans, Byzantines, Crusaders and Napoleon. In the area of just 3 square miles, you will find over 300 monuments surrounded by medieval walls.
Day-9. LA VALETTA &THREE CITIES: Travel to Walking tour of the Sliema sea front with great view over of La Valetta fortress and then board local bus to the area of “Three Cities” Vittoriosa, Single and Conspiuca, home of all conquerors of the island. All three cities are almost unattached, keeping their traditions and the way of life. Great place for fun, hunt on the original souvenirs, and real along the Bay. Dinner in original Maltese eatery with traditional Lampiki Pie.
