On your way to Marseilles we will stop in the town of Arles, built by Roman army and later developed in medieval time. End your tour in sunny Marseilles, the oldest city in France with great boat ride to Chateau d' If.
Day-1. DEPARTURE CITY - PARIS: Afternoon / overnight flight to Paris.
Day-2. PARIS: Arrival Paris in the morning and transfer to the city. Then start with panoramic tour of Paris to see the main sites such as: Opera Garnier, the Eiffel Tower, the Obelisk, Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Tuileries Gardens, Trocadero, Luxembourg Gardens, Latin Quarter, Avenue Fosh, Place de la Concorde, le Bastille, and Les Invalides, a place where the “Citizens of Revolution” stole over 30,000 weapons that were used in the attack on the Bastille prison. Then to your hotel in Bastille (walking distance to Hotel deVille and Louvre)
Day-3. PARIS: Walk to Marais, the best "secret" of Paris, a labyrinth of cobble-stone streets, old courtyards, posh villas, art galleries, and pastry. shops. View Place de Vosges, the most beautiful palace in Paris before we enter Ille de la Cite, the cradle of Parisian civilization, and place where the Roman army sat up their fist camp. Inside visit of Notre Dame and then along Pont Neuf to Conciergerie Prison from where during the revolution, over 1,350 prisoners including Marie Antoinette and Louis XVII. were sent to the guillotine. Then to Love for inside visit of one of the best art museums in the world. Then along Tuiliers Garden and along Seine to Pont d' Alma and board Bateaux Mouches cruise on Seine.
Day-4. PARIS-SARLAT: Early morning train to Brive. Arrival around 10 am and board the Motor coach for the tour of Western Dordogne. First visit Maison Fort de Reignac, a unique castle built in the rock with its torture chambers. Then continue to lLes Eyzies-de- Tayac and nearby caves of Lascaus known by the pre-historic rock dwellings. Pass Chateau de Castelnaud before we visit Chateau Beynac, a fascinating castle built in 12th century and its rooms and courtyard. End the day in Sarlat.
Day-5. DORDOGNE: Full day to discover Dordogne. First visit Fort de Reignac, unique castle built in the rock and known by its torture chambers. Then visit Lascaus Caves known by the pre-historic rock dwellings. Early afternoon continue to Chateau Beynac, a fascinating castle built in 12th century with unique courtyard and towers crowning the valley. Late afternoon arrival Sarlat one of the most beautiful medieval towns in France. After check in, join the local guide on walking tour to see some of over 200 historical buildings
Day-6. PADIRAC-CARCASSONNE: Travel to Parc Naturel des Causses du Quercy to visit the Cave of Padirac for underground tour of the cave by foot and by boat. Then along the Southern Dordogne and the city of Toulouse to Carcassonne for overnight.
Day-7. CARCASSONNE: Full day to explore Carcassonne, the most beautiful medieval fortified town in France established already in 5th BC, but developed mostly during medieval time. Climb to Chateau Comtal known by its massive walls and towers. See the Bell Tower, walk along the narrow cobblestone streets before afternoon relax in the town bellow.
Day-8. ARLES - MARSEILLES: Early morning departure carcassonne for scenic ride along the coast France. Arrival Arles and start with walking tour of this old Roman military post and trade centre. The city is also known as the place where Vincent Van Gogh spend a few years recovering from his illness and where he painted several known paintings including the Starry Night and Caffee Terrace. You will have a chance to sip your cafe late at the same place (and hope at the same table) where he spend several hours each day working on his masterpiece. Then walking tour to see the Arena and Roman Theatre before we travel to Marseilles. Before check in, visit Notre Dame de la Garde Cathedral, the symbol of the city, located high on the hill above the city.
Day-9. MARSEILLES: Walk to the port (just 200 m.) and start with walking guided tour of the oldest city in France established as the Greek colony, developed by the Romans with some additions in 14th and 15th century. During the walking tour see: Jardin de Vestiges, Vieux Port, the Roman Docks, Quartier de Panier and Abaye St. Victor. In the afternoon, boat ride to nearby Chateau d' If, imposing fortress and former prison known also from Alexander Dumas novel Count of Monte Christo.
Day-10. DEPARTURE: Morning transfer to the airport for your return flight.
