In depth discovery of Portugal, the land of the sailors. From northern city of Porto and great cities of Braga, Lieria, Obidos, to Lisbon and Royal Sintra. Explore Fatima one of the best known Catholic pilgrimage sites, and the sandy beaches of Cascais.
Day-1. DEPARTURE CITY-LISBOA: Afternoon-overnight Transatlantic flight to Portugal.
Day-2. LISBOA-PORTO: Arrival Lisboa and transfer to Porto. After check in and refreshment break join your tour director on walking tour along Douro River and Avenida Gustavo Eiffel.
Day-3. PORTO: Guided tour of Porto. Visit / see: the Igreja de Sao Francisco, Santa Clara Sao Bento Station with tilled walls, Medieval Quarter, Batalha Square and Passeio Alegre Garden. Rest of the day is free for some fun along Ribeira and Rua Santa Catarina.
Day-4. PORTO-LEIRIA: Follow the coast of Atlantic, to another "Wonder of Portugal", the famous Batalha Monastery, named as UNESCO World Heritage Site, built by the order of King João I. Then travel to Leiria for overnight.
Day-5. FATIMA: Full day in Fatima, world known catholic pilgrimage site best known for the famous apparitions from 1917, and the most visited Marian shrines in the world today. Visit the Sanctuary of Fatima and the Chapel of Apparitions. Possible Holly Mass in one of the chapels.
Day-6. LEIRIA OBIDOS-LISBON: Short ride to Obidos, known as the Town of Queens (kings used to offer the place to their wives), known since Roman time, and known by its medieval fortress. See: the Pousada, Santa Maria Church, Misericordia Church, Sao Martinho and Paco Real. Then some free time to try some excellent local food like caldeirada and ginjinha. Then a short ride to Lisbon and your centrally located hotel
Day-7. LISBON: Tour Lisbon to see another two "Wonders" of Portugal". First see the Tower of Belem, the symbol of Lisbon, and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then a short ride to Praca doImperio to visit Jeronimo's Monastery containing the tomb of Vasco da Gama. Then drive past the Bull Ring to the Pombal Statue, and along the grand Avenida da Liberdade. to explore Alfama district and Castelo de Sao Jorge.
Day-8. SINTRA-CASCAIS-LISBON: Travel to nearby Sintra, the former royal retreat town to see: Paco Real, Palacio da Vila, Church of Sao Martinho, Church of Misericordia, Hanging Post and the Clock Tower. Then to Cascais for some fun on the beaches before we return to Lisbon. In the evening Mariden farewell dinner.
