Day-1. DEPARTURE CITY - ROME: Overnight flight to Italy.
Day-2. ROME-NAPLES-SORRENTO: Morning arrival Rome and continue with short domestic flight to Naples. Then board the Motor coach for a short ride to Pompeii. Guided tour of Ancient Pompeii city, buried after the huge eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 76 AD. Late afternoon continue along the Bay of Naples to Sorrento and to your centrally located four star hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day-3. CAPRI-SORRENTO: Short walk to Marina Grande and board the hydrofoil for ride to Capri. Then take the cable car for ride to the town of Capri, where Emperor Augustus built his first summer retreat, followed by Emperors Tiberius and Caligula. Emperor Comodus sister Lucila (remember the movie Gladiator) was imprisoned in Capri and later executed. Tour the town and view the Faraglioni, famous lighthouses from Greek period and Via Tragara. Also visit the perfume outlet where the locals produce famous perfumes from lemon. Return to Sorrento. for walking tour and some free time around Piazza Tasso.
Day-4. SORRENTO-ROME: Early departure to Rome. Upon arrival start with guided tour of Ancient Rome. Visit: the Colosseum, the Arch of Titus, Arch of Constantine, Forum Romanum, Capitoline Hill, Victor Emmanuel Monument and Pantheon. Then to your hotel just 10. min. walk to Colosseum. In the evening visit Trevi Fountain, one of symbols of Rome and great place to taste the best gelato in Italy.
Day-5. VATICAN: Travel by metro to the State of Vatican. Then start with guided tour of Vatican Museum with the Greek Cross Room, the Candelabra Gallery, Maps Gallery, Raphael’s Loggia, the Sistine Chapel with ceilings by Michelangelo and St. Peter’s Basilica with Michelangelo’s La Pieta. Later continue to Castel San Angelo and Navona Square. Rest of the day is free.
Day-6. ROME-ATHENS-ARGOLIS: Short flight to Athens. Upon arrival, board the motor coach for excursion to Argolis. First stop in Corinth, known as one of the most powerful cities in the early Greek period and also known as the centre of St. Paul’s missionary work. See the Corinth Canal, a masterpiece of modern engineering designed by the Roman generals and continue to Mycenae to visit the remains of Palace of King Agamemnon and Lion’s Gate. Continue to Tolo and your seaside hotel for overnight.
Day-7. TOLO-EPIDAURUS-ATHENS: Travel to Naflion, the former capital of Greece for a challenging climb to Palamidi Fortress, built by the Venetian in the 17th century for an amazing view over the town. Then travel to Epidaurus well preserved and acoustically perfect ancient theatre, used for performances and orators. Then to Athens for guided tour. Visit the Acropolis of Athens (the sacred rock) with the main sites: Parthenon, Temple of Athina Nike, Propylaea, Erechtheum, Theatre of Herod Atticus, and the Theatre of Dionysius. Then walk to Syntagma to see the changing of the guard performed by Evzones.
Day-8. ATHENS: Relax day in Athens for walking tour led by your tour director to see: the Library, Academia and the University, Monastiraki Market and Plaka, or take one of possible excursions like: Delphi, Cape Sounion, Saronic Gulf Cruise with Hydra, Poros and Aegina.
