This itinerary follow the path of Piccolomini Popes, as well as the history of Etruscan and Medieval Italy. From the provinces of Veneto, Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio to the Eternal City and Vatican Museum. Beside Venice, Florennce, Siena, Assisi and Rome explore some less known towns of Italy like Tenuta, Corsignano (Pienza), Orvieto, Viterbo, Porto d; Ascoli, Ascoli Piceno and Pretare. Day-1. DEPARTURE CITY -VENICE: Overnight flight to Italy.
Day 2. VENICE: Arrival Venice and transfer by private boat to your hotel located on Canal Grande. After the refreshment break join your tour director on walking tour along Lista d' Espagna and up to Basilica San Marco. Dinner in original Venetian trattoria. D
Day-3. VENICE: Start the day with guided tour of Venice, the unique city built on over 120 islands. See: St. Mark's Square, The Golden house, Basilica of San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs, Campanile, Academia and Rialto Bridge. In the afternoon visit one of the famous Venetian glass blowing productions. Rest of the day is free for group or individual activities. How about to rent a gondola for a great ride along the Grand Canal. B.
Day-4. VENICE FLORENCE: Morning departure to Florence. Upon arrival, the local guide for walking tour of the world's capital of Renaissance. See / visit: Giotto's Bell Tower, Duomo, the Baptistry, Piazza de la Signoria with Neptune's fountain, Church of Santa Croce and Town Hall. Then walk to Ponte Vechio a unique bridge over the Arno. Dinner in Florentine Trattoria. B.D.
Day-5. FLORENCE: Visit Medici Chapel, the burial place of Medici Family decorated with amazing sculptures created by Michelangelo. Later join your tour director on walking tour through San Lorenzo open air market with numerous booths selling traditional Florentine products. Later, visit to Salvatore Feragamo Shoe Museum with over 3,000 pairs of shoes which this shoe-genius created for the famous movie stars and presidents. B.
Day-6. TUSCANY-ORVIETO: Travel to Sienna, the most beautiful medieval town in Europe, and the main rival of mighty Florence. Visit its main sites: Terzo di Camallia, Terzo di Citta, the Fortezza, Duomo, Palazzo Pubblico, and Cathedral covered with white and green marble. Inside the Cathedral visit Piccolomini Library, painted with fresco cycle by the painter, Pinturicchio depicting the life of the Renaissance pope, Pius II. In the afternoon continue along the Tuscan hills to visit Tenuta Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona and Molinello wine cellar where you will have wine testing. Then just a short ride to Corsignano, where Enea Silvio Piccolomini known as Pope Pius II was born. During his papacy he built there his papal residence and renamed the town to Pienza. After walking tour to see the main sites, continue to Orvieto and your hotel in Piccolomini Palace for dinner and overnight. B.D.
Day-7. ORVIETO: Relax day in Orvieto, old Etruscan town built on volcanic hill, high above the valley. Visit the Cathedral covered with green and white marble, and famous Chapel of St. Brizio decorated with unique mosaics. Free afternoon to explore the narrow streets of Orvieto and local market, or take the optional excursion to nearby Viterbo, the old Etrucan capital, built as the main center of Etruscan society, and known before the Ancient Rome. B.
Day-8. ASSISI-PORTO D' ASCOLLI: Travel to Assisi, where St. Francis founded the Franciscan order. Contained within the huge 13th-century Basilica are many of the saint's possessions and a series of frescoes depicting his life. We will visit the Chapel, and the Church of St. Clare to see the saint's incorrupt body. Then along the shores of Adriatic Sea to Porto d Ascolli and your beach front hotel with swimming pool for overnight. B.D.
Day-9. ASCOLLI PICENO & PRETARE: Travel to Ascolli Piceno, the best kept secret of Italy. The town of medieval palaces, churches, courtyards and museums. See: Piazza del Popolo, Piazza Aringo the Cathedral, Palazzo Vescovile, and Church of St, TomassoThen just a short ride through the countryside to visit the village of Pretare where Piccolomini parent were born, Late return to your hotel in Porto d' Ascolli. B.
Day-10. PORTO D' ASCOLLI-ROME: Early morning departure to Rome. Upon arrival, join your tour director on walking tour to Colosseum, where you will start guided tour of the main sites of Ancient Rome such as: the Colosseum, Titus Arch, Constantine's Arch, Forum Romanum (inside visit), Foro Traiano, Capitoline Hill, and Victor Emanuel Monument. After check in, join your tour director on visit to Trevi Fountain, where you can taste the best gelato in Italy. B.D.
Day-11. VATICAN: Visit Vatican Museum, a group of impressive edifices with galleries filled with art treasures. See: Greek Cross Room, Candelabra Gallery, Maps Gallery, Raphael's Lodge, the Sistine Chapel, seat of the Conclave for the election of Popes, with ceilings by Michelangelo and St. Peter's Basilica, the largest catholic church in the world, with Michelangelo's masterpiece, "La Pieta" and "Glory" by Bernini. Rest of the day is free. B.
Day-12. ROME: Your free day in Rome. In the evening, Mariden farewell dinner in original Trattoria. B. D.
